UK-based vehicle manufacturer and a subsidiary of General Motors, Vauxhall Motors has inked a long term agreement with the vehicle recycling company Autogreen.

As per the deal, the manufacturer will see that all its vehicles handled by Autogreen are recycled using the most environmentally friendly methods once they have reached the end of their life.

The methods used for recycling and disposing would also meet legislative requirements set out in the European End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Directive.

Vauxhall Motors Regulatory Affairs manager Ian Allen said, "Vauxhall is delighted to continue the successful partnership with Autogreen not only does it ensure we are well placed to meet the new End-of-Life Vehicle regulations that come into force in 2015 but it also shows our commitment to reducing waste and pollutants, conserving resources and recycling materials at every stage of the product lifecycle."

The vehicle manufacturer has been using recyclable materials in its vehicles since 1990 and currently uses over 200 recyclates in its Design under the Recycling strategy that allows usage 45,000t of recycled materials in new vehicles every year.

According to the European End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive, which came into effect from 2000, the vehicles in each Member State must achieve a minimum recycling target of 85%.
