Mercedes-Benz Begins Production of C-Class Sedan at Tuscaloosa Plant

The Tuscaloosa facility is third location across the globe that has started production of the C-Class sedans.

C-Class sedan is being made for the first time at the facility, whose traditional production program already includes SUV models of the M-, R-, and GL-Class.

Mercedes-Benz Cars Production and Supply Chain Management Divisional Board member Markus Schfer said with the successful start of production at the Tuscaloosa plant, the company is expanding its C-Class capacities for the market launch in the US and Canada during the fall.

"For the first time, the C-Class is manufactured also in Tuscaloosa - the team has done an excellent job in mastering this challenge," Schfer added.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers fuel consumption ranging from 6L to 4L per 100km along with CO2 emissions combined in range of 140-103g /km.

The manufacturer has increased production of the C-Class vehicles in Bremen, Germany, East London, South Africa and Tuscaloosa.

Additionally, the company has announced its plans to start a production location in Beijing, China.
